One of the most beautiful locations in the world, the Lake District can provide you with the most tranquil break you could imagine. A cottage is a perfect choice of accommodation due to its comfort and beauty and will put you in just the right frame of mind to experience the splendour if the region.

Here are the top tips to consider when booking Lake District cottages.
[1] Consider the location of the cottage when looking at prices. Often you will find that cottages in the most desired locations will charge much more for a lower standard of cottage so if location is not of paramount importance you should be able to find a better deal outside of the most famous areas. You could find cheap cottages and large cottages quite easily in lesser known areas.
[2] Consider booking quite far in advance as the most popular cottages can be booked quite quickly. Try to find out when booking opens and get in early.
[3] Find out exactly what is included in the price before you go. This can vary between cottages so check about gas & electricity, costs for pets if you have any, booking charges and any additional costs.
[4] If time of year is not a factor then check for a better deal at an off-peak time of year. The cottages will often be unfilled at these times so you can often find a cheaper deal this way.
[5] Consider national trust cottages as they can be amongst the most beautiful and you will often be able to find a unique experience booking this way.
[6] If you are looking for cottages to buy or holiday homes to buy for either renting out for profit or as a second home then it is highly recommended that you spend some time in the area first. This will give you a great deal of insight and you will find out much more than just a brief visit. The area and the cottage may appear to be located in a beautiful area but those with Lake District cottages are spoilt for choice so your cottage may not appear as desirable on second glance.
